My Superheroes Wear Crowns

When I came across the quote that "most superheroes wear a cape but mine wear crowns" I was immediately taken to a place in my head where all of the amazing, courageous, adventurous and strong women that I have come across in my life flashed before my eyes.

I am all about the empowerment of women and I always speak of wearing a crown when talking about remembering your worth. Act like a Queen, straighten your crown and wear that tiara are just a few of the phrases you will catch coming out of my mouth from time to time. So, my superheroes don't wear capes, they wear crowns. They are famous and not so famous. They are incredible women doing incredible things and all are 50 years of age or over. Nothing is impossible and it is never too late and that is the message I hope to convey to your through the stories of these amazing women.

Today as I was writing this post, a dear friend and one of my superheroes, tagged me in this quote:- "The women who I love and admire for their strength and grace did not get that way because shit worked out. They got that way because shit went wrong, and they handled it. They handled it in a thousand different ways on a thousand different days, but they handled it. Those women are my superheroes." The quote is from Elizabeth Gilbert and reinforced the need not only for me to inspire everyone by telling their stories but to give some of our unsung superheroes some recognition and some love.

My superheroes don't wear capes - my superheroes wear a crown.

Straighten your crown Darlings!
